It’s really no secret that I’m borderline obsessed with my dog, Charlie. Well, all dogs really. What can I say? The wet nose, wagging tails and cuddly warm bodies get me every time!
The other day I was cuddling with Charlie on the couch (standard), thinking about how nice he has it – cuddles all day, plays with the girls, gets fed and scratched and is given way too many treats. And then it sort of hit me – I could learn a lot from this pup. Seriously!
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some “life lessons” I’ve picked up on, just from watching my dog.
Life Lesson #1 – All You Need is Family.
It’s no secret that I’ve been having a difficult time with our transition to Texas. I miss my best friends terribly, miss being physically close to my family, and miss life in Chicago in general. But guess what? I have my family. I have my husband, who works so hard for us. I have E and A, and they are generally healthy, which is such a blessing in itself. I have a great house that the five of us (Charlie included!) call home.
Charlie is happiest when we are all in the same room. Saturday mornings on our bed, cuddling and planning the day, he is at peace. On the couch watching a movie, he is at peace. When the girls get home from school, and with Daddy they play fetch with him, he is at peace. Watching him so happy to just have us together reminds me that as long as my family is happy, I can be happy too. Sure, I might be four states away from everything and everyone I’ve ever known, but my family is together and that is something I am extremely grateful for.
Linking up with Emily for Grateful Heart Monday.
